Consultation on Tooting Bec Road - Urgent!

It's been a while since I last blogged.

What a lot has happened since then! In short, a ton of major life events have happened, I'm on the other side of them now. Really looking forward to getting on with life again (including fixing our streets)!

Anyway, we've had a little win. Thanks to support for this petition, there's now this consultation on TfL's website:

It's not exactly what we were asking for, but definitely an improvement.

As ever with consultations, they are more likely to be improved (and happen on the ground) if there is a lot of support expressed in consultation responses. Bearing that in mind, if you could take a few minutes to add your voice to the consultation that would be wonderful.

Here are some suggested points that you may like to include:

1) Delighted that TfL recognise the benefits of providing protected space for cycling along Tooting Bec Road.

2) The proposals could be improved upon, in the following ways:
   a) Bus stop by-passes (as have been successfully used in Waltham Forest)
   b) Improving the form of protection - wands are good as an interim measure. When the road is next re-surfaced, the cycle tracks should be upgraded to grade level separation. (eg Camden, Waltham Forest, Kingston, Oval-Lambeth)
   c) Shared path (east end) - given the acknowledgement by TfL that the road is wide enough to manage re-allocation of space for cycle use. Would it not be possible to continue the same approach taken between Dr Johnson Av and the junction with Aldrington Road east up to the gyratory?
   d) Extend the scheme along the south side of Tooting Bec Common at least to the junction with Elmbourne Road.

Thanks in advance.
